As the largest training provider in regional Western Australia, the South Regional TAFE has provided vocational training in the South West for over 50 years. Working with industry, we have contributed to shaping the future of current and prospective employees through training and skills recognition that has led to formal qualifications, economic empowerment and social prosperity in the region.

Responsive to the changing needs of our students, industry and the broader training milieu the South Regional TAFE has implemented continuous improvement and developed customised training solutions to proactively engage with the local community and address the contemporary knowledge and skill requirements of the modern workforce. Our training is bench-marked to industry standards and is nationally accredited enabling students to gain qualifications that are portable across Australia and that facilitate a seamless transition into employment or articulation into the higher education sector.

How do I choose?

Delivery Options

This training provider offers courses in the following delivery modes:

Face to face training

In-person training delivered at the RTO's site. Also known as 'on-campus', 'in-class', 'traditional face-to-face', 'on-RTO-site' delivery.

Offsite training

The RTO can deliver in-person training using facilities at-or-near a client's workplace, or else in a mobile manner (eg. delivery at a regional/remote location for a specific period or for a specific training course). Also known as 'workplace', 'mobile', 'on-client-site' delivery.

Flexible learning

Includes online courses and courses by correspondence. Also known as 'external studies'.

  • Distance (training available via correspondence)
  • Attendance required (training includes some fixed-time online lectures or fixed time class components)
  • Self-paced (training has no set class times of set submission dates)

Mixed mode training

A combination of various delivery modes. Also known as 'mixed delivery'.

Facilities

The South Regional TAFE consists of 12 Campuses in the Southern Region of WA, covering an area from Harvey in the north-west of the region through to Esperance in the south-east. Each campus delivers a range of qualifications, representative of local community needs and tailored to suit local individual student requirements.

Our extensive infrastructure allows for the delivery of engineering, applied science, resources, building and construction trades, hospitality and personal services. The college has unparalleled laboratory facilities, horticulture hot houses and commercial kitchens as well as a fully functional training restaurant, hairdressing and beauty salons. A purpose-built, state-of-the-art automotive centre provides training in Light Automotive, Heavy Automotive and Automotive Electrics.

Services

The South Regional TAFE places a premium on supporting our students and a range of services are available to assist students in adapting to the learning environment. The campus offers support to students with a dedicated course information service, support for disability and indigenous students as well as providing a student counselling service to all students across the souther region of Western Australia.

Financial Assistance

The federal, state and territory governments provide financial incentives and support for vocational education and training students to help them gain the skills required to secure and maintain rewarding and sustainable employment.

There are programs for all kinds of students; apprentices and trainees, new job starters, those re-entering the workforce, retraining for a new job or upgrading their skills for an existing job.

Subsidised Training

State and territory governments dedicate funds to reduce or, in some cases, fully cover tuition fees for VET students who wish to study certain courses.
Unfortunately, this Training Provider does not currently deliver any subsidised training.

VET Student Loans

This RTO can offer VET Student Loans for certain approved courses. A VET Student Loan is a capped loan from the Australian Government to help you pay your tuition fees. Your initial loan debt amount (loan and loan fee, if applicable), plus indexation, must be paid back once you start earning over a certain amount. Compulsory repayment threshold information is available on the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website.
