Training Provider Summary

AAPA Victoria is an approved Flight Training Organisation with the campus located in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The campus consists of the Flight Training Centre on the airport and the Academic and Administration Centre and student accommodation in fully equipped houses.

The modern facilities comply with both CASA and overseas regulatory standards and provides students with the best learning environment.

With over thirty years of flying tradition and experience behind us, we know what it takes to make the best airline pilots. AAPA Victoria is managed by its parent company Regional Express (Rex) which is the largest independent regional airline in Australia, recognised by experts all over the globe as the world’s best regional airline.

AAPA Victoria trains pilots to commercial airlines standards and has a much more stringent and rigorous pedagogy compared to what is prevalent amongst pilot schools catering to General Aviation. AAPA Victoria has been approved by civil aviation regulatory bodies in China, Singapore and Australia to deliver ab-initio Integrated Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) and Air Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). 

AAPA Victoria has trained pilots for Air China, Hainan Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, Okay Airways, Scoot, Qatar Airways, China Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines and Tigerair. Besides training cadets for airlines, AAPA Victoria also accepts private candidates aspiring to be airline pilots and also individuals who just wish to learn to fly.

AAPA Victoria also has a sister Flight Training Organisation (AAPA - RTO Code: 91646) in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

AAPA Victoria and AAPA Wagga Wagga has a total combined capacity of over 400 cadets a year.

Delivery Options

This training provider offers courses in the following delivery modes:

Face to face training

In-person training delivered at the RTO's site. Also known as 'on-campus', 'in-class', 'traditional face-to-face', 'on-RTO-site' delivery.

Facilities

Academic Centre

The AAPA Victoria Academic Centre is located a short distance away from the student residences and the airport and Flight Operations Centre.

The Academic Centre is used for majority of the ground training for cadets. This facility is home to six classrooms, which includes one computer lab for conducting theory lessons. It is also the location of the three flight simulators.

Flight Operations Centre

The AAPA Victoria Flight Operations Centre is located at the Ballarat Airport and serves as the operational centre. The flight operations centre features an apron for up to 40 aircraft. The facility contains briefing/ debriefing rooms and flight operations support facilities where all students complete flight planning, signing out of aircraft, pre-flight briefings and checks, and post -flight briefings.

Services

AAPA Victoria is approved by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) to conduct the following courses: Recreational Pilots Licence (RPL), Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) and Instrument Rating (IR).

AAPA Victoria is also approved by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) to conduct the following training: Recreational Pilots Licence (RPL), Commercial Pilots Licence (CPL) and Instrument Rating (IR).

Besides being approved by the Civil Aviation and Safety Authority (CASA) as a Flight Training Organisation, AAPA Victoria has also been approved by Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) as a Registered Training Organisation to deliver nationally recognised qualifications: AVI50219 Diploma of Aviation (Commercial Pilot Licence - Aeroplane) and AVI50519 Diploma of Aviation (Instrument Rating). In addition, AAPA Victoria is on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) and is authorised to accept foreign students for both qualification enrolments.

Financial Assistance

The federal, state and territory governments provide financial incentives and support for vocational education and training students to help them gain the skills required to secure and maintain rewarding and sustainable employment.

There are programs for all kinds of students; apprentices and trainees, new job starters, those re-entering the workforce, retraining for a new job or upgrading their skills for an existing job.

Subsidised Training

State and territory governments dedicate funds to reduce or, in some cases, fully cover tuition fees for VET students who wish to study certain courses.
Unfortunately, this Training Provider does not currently deliver any subsidised training.

VET Student Loans

This RTO does not currently offer VET Student Loans for any approved courses. A VET Student Loan is a capped loan from the Australian Government to help you pay your tuition fees. Your initial loan debt amount (loan and loan fee, if applicable), plus indexation, must be paid back once you start earning over a certain amount. The compulsory repayment threshold for the 2019-20 income year is $45,881.
