Training Provider Summary

The MTA Institute (MTAI) is the largest private provider of automotive apprenticeships and training in Queensland. 

Opened in 2012, the Sir Jack Brabham Automotive Centre of Excellence is a $10 million, state-of-the-art facility devised to offer the very best of training environments for the automotive professionals of the future.

Equipped with the latest technology and training resources, the Centre’s design permits a flexibility that allows the Institute to monitor changing industry requirements and ensure that all apprentices and trainees that train at the Centre are equipped with the skills to navigate current and future industry trends.

The Centre of Excellence features:

  • 28 mechanical and vehicle body repair bays.
  • Four fully equipped training rooms featuring the latest IT and communications technology.
  • State-of-the-art equipment for learners training in crash repair, including the latest technology in spray booths and body repair systems.
  • Modern learner recreation facilities including a kitchen, lunchroom and BBQ area.
  • The headquarters for MTA Queensland, the peak body representing Queensland’s automotive industry

How do I choose?

Delivery Options

This training provider offers courses in the following delivery modes:

Face to face training

MTA Institute offers face-to-face training delivered at the RTO's $10 million dollar state-of-the-art facility. MTAI also delivers face-to-face training externally. These options are available for apprenticeships, traineeships and short courses (both accredited and non-accredited). Also known as 'on-campus', 'in-class', 'traditional face-to-face', 'on-RTO-site' delivery. MTAI has over 30 trainers throughout Queensland dedicated to providing on-site face-to-face training for all apprentices and trainees. MTAI Trainers are highly skilled, with over 450 years combined experience in the automotive sector. They are committed and passionate about the automotive industry.

Offsite training

MTAI delivers face-to-face training offsite using facilities at-or-near a client's workplace, or else in a mobile manner (eg. delivery at a regional/remote location for a specific period or for a specific training course). Also known as 'workplace', 'mobile', 'on-client-site' delivery. MTAI has over 30 trainers throughout Queensland dedicated to providing on-site face-to-face training for all apprentices and trainees. MTAI Trainers are highly skilled, with over 450 years combined experience in the automotive sector. They are committed and passionate about the automotive industry.

Flexible learning

MTAI is leading the way in automotive training and has introduced a learning system where text books and other learning resources are available online. This means: - Students now have the ability to supplement their learning wherever and whenever through their smart phone, tablet or PC. - Employers, supervisors and trainers can all access and monitor the student's real-time progress anytime or anywhere. All the practical components of the student's workplace training will remain face-to-face. Trainers will continue to engage students at their workplace or at the RTO's $10 million dollar state-of-the-art facility allowing for one-on-one support. Online courses are also offered for a range of Motor Vehicle accredited courses where study can be done at the student's individual pace.

Financial Assistance

The federal, state and territory governments provide financial incentives and support for vocational education and training students to help them gain the skills required to secure and maintain rewarding and sustainable employment.

There are programs for all kinds of students; apprentices and trainees, new job starters, those re-entering the workforce, retraining for a new job or upgrading their skills for an existing job.

Subsidised Training

State and Territory governments dedicate funds to reduce or, in some cases, fully cover tuition fees for VET students. This Training Provider is approved to deliver subsidised training in the following highlighted states and territories. VET Student Loans

This RTO does not currently offer VET Student Loans for any approved courses. A VET Student Loan is a capped loan from the Australian Government to help you pay your tuition fees. Your initial loan debt amount (loan and loan fee, if applicable), plus indexation, must be paid back once you start earning over a certain amount. The amount for the 2017-2018 income year is $55,874.
