About Victoria University Polytechnic
Victoria University Polytechnic is Victoria University’s vocational education provider. We offer accredited courses, apprenticeships, traineeships, non-accredited short courses and customised training programs that link closely with industry needs, skills and jobs. 

We offer over 130 courses of varying duration in:

OPTIONS TO PATHWAY BETWEEN COURSES
As a multi-sector provider, VU Polytechnic offers transitions between courses at all levels. We have established pathways into over 50 higher education degrees at VU recognising the skills and knowledge you have already gained. 

You can study a vocational qualification at VU Polytechnic and transition into a higher education degree at VU. Higher education students at VU can choose to enhance their learning with additional skills sets at VU Polytechnic.

How do I choose?

Delivery Options

This training provider offers courses in the following delivery modes:

Face to face training

VU Polytehnic offers in person training on-campus.

Offsite training

In addition to on-campus training, VU Polytechnic offers workplace/industry training. Our trainers also complete assessments on work sites for our apprentices and trainees. We offer recognition of prior learning and workplace assessment services.

Flexible learning

Digitally supported remote delivery is available. Select courses are also delivered as fully-online classes/workshops.

  • Online (training available online or via email submission)
  • Attendance required (training includes some fixed-time online lectures or fixed time class components)
  • Self-paced (training has no set class times of set submission dates)

Mixed mode training

We are committed to providing you with supported, flexible study options that suit your needs. Our multi award-winning blended learning model replaces paper-based theory with a combination of face-to-face teaching and user-friendly eLearning that can be completed anytime, anywhere. VU Polytechnic also offers VET Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) allowing secondary students to gain practical skills in a specific industry while undertaking VCE or VCAL.

Our purpose-built learning spaces feature the latest technology and state-of-the-art facilities. You’ll gain hands-on learning experiences using actual workplace equipment and emerging technologies.

  • Sunshine Skills Hub featuring an Innovation Space with technology that includes the latest in robotics, 3D printing, drones and industry standard software. It also features a nursing simulation lab and specialist teaching spaces that replicate real-world environments.
  • Cybersecurity Training Centre - the facility features a Security Operations Centre (SOC), providing a simulated working environment for collaboration and practical experience.
  • Moss at VU hair, beauty and massage salon at City King Campus
  • VenU Restaurant at Footscray Nicholson Campus
  • Kindred Studios (Music at VU) 
  • VU Sport and Fitness Centres across multiple campuses

Financial Assistance

The federal, state and territory governments provide financial incentives and support for vocational education and training students to help them gain the skills required to secure and maintain rewarding and sustainable employment.

There are programs for all kinds of students; apprentices and trainees, new job starters, those re-entering the workforce, retraining for a new job or upgrading their skills for an existing job.

Subsidised Training

State and Territory governments dedicate funds to reduce or, in some cases, fully cover tuition fees for VET students. This Training Provider is approved to deliver subsidised training in the following highlighted states and territories. VET Student Loans

This RTO can offer VET Student Loans for certain approved courses. A VET Student Loan is a capped loan from the Australian Government to help you pay your tuition fees. Your initial loan debt amount (loan and loan fee, if applicable), plus indexation, must be paid back once you start earning over a certain amount. The compulsory repayment threshold for the 2019-20 income year is $45,881.
