Training Provider Summary

Health Careers International is a group of organisations committed to quality health education. This commitment is fulfilled through the establishment of three organisations: Institute of Health and Nursing Australia, Institute of Health and Management and Edusystems Australia.

The Health Careers commenced operations in 2004 and has trained over 8,000 students through IHNA, which is Health Careers RTO division.

The Health Careers comprises three divisions: The Institute of Health and Nursing Australia (IHNA), The Institute of Health and Management and EduSystems Australia Pty Ltd.

IHNA’s focus is firmly on the development and delivery of quality education, training and management systems for the healthcare sector.

It currently offers vocational education courses and continuing professional development programs from campuses in Melbourne Heidelberg, Melbourne CBD,  Sydney, Perth and through its partnerships internationally. IHNA has an extensive library of online programs. Flexible learning arrangements, allow students to balance their study and work commitments. Learning is further enhanced by simulated laboratory activities and professional work placements at healthcare facilities.

IHNA is governed by a Board of Studies, with a diverse and highly qualified membership that includes external members. The Board of Studies brings together experts from education, business and health to oversee and advise management and the academic staff. The Board ensures our programs remain relevant to industry, meet the high expectations of students and satisfy the changing requirements of industry. IHNA’s VET programs are accredited by Australian Standards and Quality Agency (ASQA) and the Initial Registration of Overseas Nurses program, return to practice and Diploma of Nursing accredited by both Australian Nursing Midwifery Accreditation Council and ASQA.

How do I choose?

Delivery Options

This training provider offers courses in the following delivery modes:

Face to face training

In-person training delivered at IHNA's Perth, Melbourne and Sydney campuses. Also known as 'on-campus', 'in-class', 'traditional face-to-face', 'on-RTO-site' delivery. All our campuses are equiped with state of the art nursing simulation labs, computer library and student facilities.

Offsite training

The RTO can deliver in-person training using facilities at-or-near a client's workplace, or else in a mobile manner (eg. delivery at a regional/remote location for a specific period or for a specific training course). Also known as 'workplace', 'mobile', 'on-client-site' delivery.

Flexible learning

Includes online courses and courses by correspondence. Also known as 'external studies'.

  • Online (training available online or via email submission)
  • Distance (training available via correspondence)
  • Attendance required (training includes some fixed-time online lectures or fixed time class components)
  • Fixed submission dates (assessment pieces have set submission dates)

Mixed mode training

Any combination of the three delivery modes. Also known as 'mixed delivery'. We offer work placement/ clinical placement for all our programs. This delivery model is named as "Blended delivery" .

Facilities

State of the Art Education and Simulation Centres

Healthcare is a skill based profession. State of the art simulation centres at every Health Careers campus and Learning Hub allow our students to practice and assess their skills and techniques in the latest ward conditions, using patient simulator manikins. Students can perform various procedures to improve their skills in a safe and realistic environment, and are trained in basic and advanced techniques of patient care. Practising in a realistic simulated environment improves patient safety by honing the skills and knowledge of students.

Services

Flexible Delivery with 24/7 Student Support

Health Careers curriculum is delivered in modes that suit the needs of students and recognises that work, learning and life should be able to coexist together with all programs available via blended delivery. Health Careers Learning Hubs may also provide support for students in their home country and offer simulation facilities, host regular webinars and group discussions and provide support for students as they undertake their study.

Students may also access 24/7 online support services online, or via telephone, Skype or email. This means that regardless of the time of day, or where you are in the world, a Health Careers team member is available with one-on-one guidance and support.

Financial Assistance

The federal, state and territory governments provide financial incentives and support for vocational education and training students to help them gain the skills required to secure and maintain rewarding and sustainable employment.

There are programs for all kinds of students; apprentices and trainees, new job starters, those re-entering the workforce, retraining for a new job or upgrading their skills for an existing job.

Subsidised Training

State and Territory governments dedicate funds to reduce or, in some cases, fully cover tuition fees for VET students. VET Student Loans

This RTO can offer VET Student Loans for certain approved courses. A VET Student Loan is a capped loan from the Australian Government to help you pay your tuition fees. Your initial loan debt amount (loan and loan fee, if applicable), plus indexation, must be paid back once you start earning over a certain amount. Compulsory repayment threshold information is available on the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) website.
