Training Provider Summary

Our Sunshine campus hosts our building and construction trade courses, a range of engineering courses and our Western Melbourne English Program (WMEP).

A world-class trade training centre called Construction Futures opened here in 2012. It has a 6 star green star rating, and was the 11th building in Australia, and 3rd in Victoria to achieve this certification.

This $44 million state-of-the-art industry training facility is home to Victoria University Polytechnic's construction program. The building is flexible and adaptable, and can be modified to suit industry demand and emerging technologies. We offer tours of the facilities every Wednesday.

The Sunshine Convention Centre is also located here and is the premier conference centre of Melbourne's western suburbs.

Facilities

Our Sunshine campus is home to our world-class trades training centre. This state-of-the-art training facility boasts high-tech labs and dynamic workshops with the latest machinery and technologies. The building is flexible and adaptable, and can be modified to suit industry demand and emerging technologies.

The Construction Hub's computer work stations give students access to discipline specific software for simulation, modelling and experimental analysis.

Our Sunshine campus houses a range of services, including:

VUHQ (Student Service Centre)
VUHQ is your first point of contact for assistance, advice and support as a student. Our opening hours change throughout the year to help meet your needs during busy times. Please note, no more than $500 case can be accepted.

Student lounges and learning spaces
The Sunshine student lounge features a kitchenette (incuding microwave and hot water), table tennis, table soccer, lounges, tables and chairs and power outlets.

Library
The Sunshine campus library has the following features:

  • AutoCAD 2016 and ArchiCAD 17 software available
  • WiFi access
  • Service desk
  • Printing, copying and scanning
  • Reserve collection
  • Self-service loans
  • Student quiet study rooms

Parking
Students and visitors can park in the P Ticket areas, using the Easy Park Phone App or paperless pay stations in the car park.

Sunshine Convention Centre
Spacious in design, the Sunshine Convention Centre is perfect for both small and large-scale exhibitions, trade shows and forums. It features seminar rooms, a tiered auditorium, a dining room and a large foyer suitable for catering breaks. The Centre is centrally located between the Melbourne CBD and Melbourne Airport, with easy access from the Western Ring Road.

Financial Assistance

The federal, state and territory governments provide financial incentives and support for vocational education and training students to help them gain the skills required to secure and maintain rewarding and sustainable employment.

There are programs for all kinds of students; apprentices and trainees, new job starters, those re-entering the workforce, retraining for a new job or upgrading their skills for an existing job.

VET Student Loans

This RTO can offer VET Student Loans for certain approved courses. A VET Student Loan is a capped loan from the Australian Government to help you pay your tuition fees. Your initial loan debt amount (loan and loan fee, if applicable), plus indexation, must be paid back once you start earning over a certain amount. The amount for the 2017-2018 income year is $55,874.
