Training Provider Summary

The City King campus is close to Southern Cross Station - Melbourne's major railway station and transport hub.

We recognise the importance of real-world learning, delivered by real-world industry experts. That is why you'll get hands-on-experience in your field at our City King student-run clinics, providing services to members of the public under the guidance of expert trainers. You will also have the chance to showcase your skills through an extensive events calendar, including community competitions and fundraising activities.

We have solid relationships with the fashion, entertainment and creative arts industries, giving you the opportunity for incredible work experiences. Our graduates have gone on to work in television, theatre and film and are regularly employed in some of Australia's finest spas and salons. Our students regularly win multiple awards in the annual Hair and Beauty Industry Association (HBIA) Awards.

The campus also has massage, beauty and dermal clinics open to the public.

Facilities

Our City King campus boasts hands-on training for students in a real-world environment to help them get work ready.

Our student-run hair salon let's students provide treatment under the supervision of our qualified and experienced team of professionals. While training in the salon you will have access to cutting, styling and colouring techniques using the latest products and methods from industry.

Our beauty day spa and salon offers student-run services and treatments in waxing, facial and body treatments, eyelash and eyebrow tinting, manicures and pedicures, electrolysis and spa therapy.

Our City King campus houses a range of services, including:

VUHQ (Student Service Centre)
VUHQ is your first point of contact for assistance, advice and support as a student. Our opening hours change throughout the year to help meet your needs at busy times. Please note, VUHQ at City King only accepts EFTPOS payments.

Beauty, health and wellbeing clinics
Our Beauty Day Spa and Salon offers a range of professional services in beauty therapy, including waxing, manicures and pedicures, electrolysis, facials and more. You can also get a haircut, style or colour at our Hair Salon.

Dermal Clinic
Our Dermal Clinic at City King covers treatments for a variety of conditions such as pre/post-operative skin care, acne, rosacea, inflammatory conditions, uneven skin tone and pigmentation, ageing or sun damaged skin, scarring, fluid retention, excess hair, tattoo removal, skin tags and leg veins.

Student lounges and learning spaces
VU has student lounges and informal learning spaces at all of our campuses, available to all students. The lounge space at City King has WiFi access, lounges, power points, vending machines and some kitchenette facilities.

Transport and parking
Our City campuses do not have student or staff parking, so your best option for geting to this campus is using public transport.

Security on campus
Our Security Operations Centre is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Financial Assistance

The federal, state and territory governments provide financial incentives and support for vocational education and training students to help them gain the skills required to secure and maintain rewarding and sustainable employment.

VET Student Loans

This RTO can offer VET Student Loans for certain approved courses. A VET Student Loan is a capped loan from the Australian Government to help you pay your tuition fees. Your initial loan debt amount (loan and loan fee, if applicable), plus indexation, must be paid back once you start earning over a certain amount. The amount for the 2017-2018 income year is $55,874.
